Merlot is one of the best known red wine grapes in the world. Deriving from the French word “merle”, meaning “blackbird” (a reference to its colour), Merlot is grown in almost every major wine growing nation in the world. Flavours range from black cherry and plum, to cedar and mocha – it’s an absolute knockout grape.
