Airén is the most heavily planted white grape variety in Spain. The baking dry central plains of La Mancha are its home, making this grape very hardy and drought-resistant. However harsh it’s natural growing climate, Airén produces wines with bold flavours and, given its low acidity, makes a perfect match to blend with other grapes.
