Mencía is a lesser-known red grape from Portugal and North Western Spain. It grows best in the high-altitude terroir of Bierzo, where it can produce red wines bursting with notes of wild dark fruits such as bramble and blackberries, along with flavours of mountain herbs like rosemary or tarragon.
